
Frontenac County – The members of Frontenac County Council elected Township of North Frontenac Mayor Gerry Lichty as 2025 Frontenac County Warden, November 20.
“I’d like to thank Warden Smith and my fellow Frontenac County Councillors for selecting me as 2025 Warden,” says Warden Lichty. “Rural municipalities continue to face intensifying economic and social challenges, and Frontenac is no exception. I’m looking forward to applying my energies to further my predecessors’ work and to representing the interests of residents of Frontenac County in the region and across Ontario.”
Lichty was elected Mayor of the Township of North Frontenac and Frontenac County Councillor in 2022. He served previously as a member of the Township of North Frontenac Committee of Adjustment, and as President of the Snow Road Community Centre Association. He settled in North Frontenac in 2014 after a successful career as a professional engineer and manager specializing in community housing projects in Toronto and for the Ontario Ministry of Housing. He then worked as a facilities manager for the Region of Waterloo, and as CEO of his firm Northwind Management Consultants.
Also elected is Township of Frontenac Islands Deputy Mayor Bill Saunders as 2025 County Deputy Warden.
County Wardens and Deputy Wardens are elected by Frontenac County Council each November for a one-year term. The Warden acts as Chief Executive Officer for the County, presides over Council meetings, provides leadership to Council, and represents the County at official functions and to the public. Warden, Deputy Warden, and Councillors each hold one vote on Council with the exception of the Mayor of South Frontenac who holds two votes.
Frontenac County Council is elected for a four-year term, currently through 2026. It is comprised of eight members including Mayor and one additional Councillor from each of the Townships of North Frontenac, Central Frontenac, South Frontenac, and Frontenac Islands.
