Fairmount Home is a 128 bed licensed long-term care home. We have 24-hour nursing and personal care by a physician, nurse practitioner, registered nurses and personal support workers.
We are operated by the County of Frontenac and funded by the Ministry of Long-Term Care, South East Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), resident accommodation fees, City of Kingston, County of Frontenac and generous donations from people in our community.
Visit our Engaging with Fairmount Home page.
We have many nursing and personal care services, including:
- Physiotherapy
- Occupational therapy
- Social work
- Recreational activities
Our medical team includes a Medical Director who is also the attending physician and Nurse Practitioners.
Our Medical Director rounds once a week and our Nurse Practitioners are full-time. Nurse Practitioners are authorized to diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications and other treatments.
Clinical specialist consultations are available including a psychogeriatric team who help meet the care requirements of residents with complex physical, cognitive and mental health needs.
We also have onsite telemedicine equipment for virtual consultations with specialists. This includes Respirology, Cardiology and Dermatology.
Residents may retain their own physician if the physician is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Fairmount Home has an Occupational Therapist (OT). The OT helps our residents to develop, recover, improve and maintain the skills they need for activities of daily living.
The OT assesses our residents’ everyday tasks like eating, grooming, dressing, bathing and toileting. The OT then makes recommendations like positioning, set-up by staff, adaptive equipment and cueing. The OT’s goal is to help residents to function as fully as possible and increase their independence and self-esteem.
Residents may be eligible for funding to help with the costs of new mobility aides. The OT can help in filling out applications for funding.
We provide physiotherapy services in-house to promote mobility for our residents.
Fairmount Home has nursing services that meet our residents’ needs and are consistent with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and the Professional Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. We have Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, and Personal Support Workers who provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We also have a Medical Director and Nurse Practitioners available.
