Fairmount Home recreation staff have received an annual Ginny Gives Award, presented by the Dementia Society of America (DSA). The award recognizes the efforts of dynamic community-based organizations that deliver innovative, practical, and scientifically informed care for families and individuals impacted by dementia. It also provides funding for specific programs that exemplify those qualities.

Fairmount staff are recognized for their Arts Adventures in the Community program in which Fairmount residents living with advanced dementia and their family members attend live music performances, tour art galleries, and take part in art workshops in the local community. The financial support that comes with the award covers all the Arts Adventures program costs.
“It’s such an honour to provide programming to residents who are living with dementia and their care partners,” says Fairmount Home Recreationist, Katie Johnson. “I can see the obvious positive impact Arts Adventures has on our residents’ wellbeing. Without the funds that come with this award, we would not be able to sustain Arts Adventures the way we do. I’m very grateful. Thank you.”

Named for Ginny Jameson, the late wife of Dementia Society of America’s founder and CEO, Kevin Jameson, the award supports initiatives and research focused on caring for and advancing brain health.
Arts Adventures in the Community posts from the Fairmount Home facebook page.
