Performance Standards

The Department of Performance Standards is responsible for ensuring Frontenac Paramedic Services meets the legislative requirements of all Federal, Provincial and Municipal statutes, as well as the basic and advanced life support patient care standards regulated by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and Regional Paramedic Program for Eastern Ontario.  

Performance Standards acquires and maintains all required certification documents for FPS paramedics, and develops, monitors and improves Quality Assurance processes for documentation and patient care evaluation and narcotic control procedures. 

The department also evaluates training needs, develops and oversees training programs, including regular Continuing Medical Education programs as well as return-to-work programs, remedial training and the Mobile Simulation program. Performance Standards is also responsible for recruiting, training and orientation of new paramedics.
