The County of Frontenac is one of 30 upper-tier municipalities among 444 municipalities in Ontario.

Frontenac County Council is comprised of eight members: the County Warden and seven County Councillors. Those eight include the mayor and one other township council representative from each of The Township of South Frontenac, The Township of Central Frontenac, The Township of Frontenac Islands, and the Township of North Frontenac.

The County is one of 13 member municipalities of the Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC). Frontenac County's Warden represents the Frontenacs on the EOWC. Frontenac County staff work closely with EOWC colleagues and staff to advocate on behalf of residents of rural Eastern Ontario to the Provincial and Federal governments. The EOWC’s strategic priorities include infrastructure, housing, and health care.
