RNAO - Best Practice Spotlight Organization BPSO

Fairmount Home is proud to be a Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) Best Practice Spotlight Organization® (BPSO®) pre-designate.

BPSO designation is a longstanding knowledge translation strategy that helps optimize health outcomes at the individual, organizational and health system levels. This program gives health service and academic organizations the opportunity to formally partner with RNAO – or an approved "Host" organization – to achieve “designation” as a BPSO. The BPSO designation can then be renewed every two years after meeting specific deliverables.

This internationally-renowned program’s strategic approach has been proven to trigger evidence-based cultures, improve patient experience and health outcomes, lower cost of care by preventing complications, and enrich staff satisfaction. The overarching aim of the partnership between Fairmount Home and RNAO is to support evidence-based health interventions to better support patients and families.

The objectives of the BPSO designation program are:

  • Establish dynamic, long-term partnerships that focus on making an impact on patient/resident care through supporting evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrate creative strategies for successfully implementing Best Practice Guidelines (BPGs) at the individual, organizational and systems level.
  • Establish and use effective approaches to evaluate implementation activities through structure, process and outcome indicators.
  • Identify effective strategies for system-wide dissemination of BPG implementation and outcomes.
  • Support achievement of the Quadruple Aim and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Among Fairmount Home's obligations for earning BPSO designation are systematic implementation and maintenance of RNAO Best Practice Guidelines (BPGs). As a BPSO pre-designate, Fairmount Home nursing professionals will focus on these initial BPGs:
