Nursing and Personal Care

Fairmount Home has nursing services that meet our residents' needs and are consistent with the Long Term Care Homes Act and the Professional Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. We have Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers who provide services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We also have a Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner available.

Medical team

Our medical team includes a Medical Director who is also the attending physician and a Nurse Practitioner. Our Medical Director rounds once a week and our Nurse Practitioner is full-time. Nurse Practitioners are authorized to diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe all medications and other treatments.

Clinical specialist consultations are available including a psychogeriatric team who help meet the care requirements of residents with complex physical, cognitive and mental health needs.

We also have onsite telemedicine equipment for virtual consultations with specialists. This includes Respirology, Cardiology and Dermatology.

Residents may retain their own physician if the physician is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

We provide physiotherapy services in-house to promote mobility for our residents.
