Phase one of updating lighting levels

Posted on Friday June 22, 2018

Attention residents and visitors,

During our 2016 annual Resident Quality Inspection (RQI), the ministry issued a Voluntary Plan of Corrective (VPC) regarding levels of lighting in the home. There are parts of our home that are not compliant with the required lighting level of 215 lux, so lighting changes are needed.

Phase one of updating lighting levels will begin on Monday June 25. Beehler Electric will be on site to replace all hallway bulbs (ceiling fixtures only) and change the light fixtures in all resident washrooms. The ministry identified these areas as the most critical. Phase two will address lighting replacement for resident over bed lighting, activity rooms, dining rooms, auxiliary areas etc. These changes will happen in early 2019.

These lighting changes support the County of Frontenac's strategic direction for sustainable spaces and become more energy efficient. We will be replacing fluorescent fixtures and bulbs with LED lighting, which lasts longer, requires less maintenance and consumes less electricity.

Please feel free to contact Tom Mercer, Manager of Environmental Services, if you have questions.
