Would you like to be part of the decision making process in your community? Apply to serve on one of the County of Frontenac’s Advisory Committees. Through community dialogue, the County’s Advisory Committees provide County Council and staff with input on a diversity of issues, bringing community issues to the forefront, and providing recommendations to County Council.
Applications for Membership on the following committees are open until December 15, 2022
- Planning and Economic Development Advisory Committee
The Planning and Economic Development Advisory Committee’s role is to provide recommendations to County Council on land use policy matters and applications submitted pursuant to the Planning Act which include, but are not limited to issues related to:
- Champion, support and promote Planning and Economic Development in Frontenac County.
- Make recommendations to Council with respect to County Official Plan matters.
- Review and make recommendations to Council concerning other planning matters of the County, including regional studies affecting planning and/or economic development, special studies, sustainability issues, and planning policy matters.
- Review and consider reports on the following matters that fall within the mandate of the Committee:
1. Subdivision and condominium applications;
2. Extensions of draft plan approvals;
3. County and Township Official Plan amendments; and
4. County and Township Official Plan updates.
- Make recommendations to Council on matters relating to Economic Development and Tourism related work.
- Contribute to economic development programs, initiatives and projects related to business support, events, tourism, Community Improvement Plans (CIP’s) as a means to support and promote community development in the rural areas and regionally.
- Receive information, updates, advice, and work with Economic Development and Tourism stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Frontenac Business Services, Regional Tourism Organizations - RTO 9 and RTO 11 - Ontario Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO), Township Economic Development Committees, and Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO).
Skills: May appeal to those who wish to contribute to policies regarding planning, development, economic development, and tourism within the County. A background and/or interest in Land Use Planning, Rural Development, Rural Economic Development, Agriculture, Real Estate, and Tourism are skills that will be beneficial to this committee.
Council will be seeking 1 community representative from each of the County’s 4 lower tiers to sit on this Committee.
- Joint Frontenac Accessibility Advisory Committee
The Joint Frontenac Accessibility Advisory Committee assists the County and Township Councils in enabling persons with disabilities to have equal access to all opportunities #inFrontenac and to help Frontenac meet the Province’s goal of a barrier-free Ontario by 2025.
