Accessibility Planning
The County of Frontenac is committed to: providing accessible customer service to persons with disabilities; removing barriers for people with disabilities and ensuring that no new barriers are created. The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) is provincial legislation with a purpose of developing, implementing and enforcing accessibility standards in order to achieve accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities with respect to goods, services, facilities, accommodation, employment, buildings, structures and premises on or before January 1, 2025. In accordance with the AODA, the County of Frontenac has adopted an Accessible Customer Service Policy Statement, as well as Accessible Customer Service Procedures and Best Practices – How May I Help You?. Accessibility Advisory Committee
The County of Frontenac and the Townships of North Frontenac, Central Frontenac, South Frontenac and Frontenac Islands have formed a Joint Frontenac Accessibility Advisory Committee (FAAC) with a mandate to:
- Advise Council in each year on preparation, implementation and effectiveness of its Accessibility Plan.
- Review selected Site Plans and drawings described in section 41 of the Planning Act in a timely fashion in terms of how they address the accessibility needs of the disabled.
- Work with Council and the community at large to identify and address the needs of the disabled community.
- Perform such other functions as specified by Council or through legislation.
