As a family member noted in the 2009 Resident and Family Satisfaction Survey, "Good care does not just happen."

Government funding covers the basic care of the residents, but we at Fairmount have never been "basic" as we believe basic is not good enough for our seniors. We have been reliant on our municipal levy to maintain the quality of care provided at Fairmount, but as those dollars become less readily available, we are looking to our friends and families for support.

By making a donation, you can help develop and/or maintain programs and projects that benefit our residents - programs such as music and art therapy; entertainment such as musical groups, televisions and radios; equipment purchases such as sit-to-stand lifts and blanket warmers; and special projects such as the auditorium renovation and our gardens. Be assured - your donation does not go towards supporting regular operational costs such as staffing and utilities.

You can make a donation to our general fund or you can specify a program or project. Any donation you make is greatly appreciated by everyone at Fairmount and a tax receipt for donations over $20 will be issued promptly.

If you would like your donation utilized for a specific need, you could consider:

Roger Candy Memorial Park: Located behind Fairmount Home, this paved pathway is enjoyed by residents, family, staff and visitors who are looking for a leisurely stroll, a vigorous workout, or simply a time to reflect and enjoy nature. Just under one kilometer long, there are plenty of rest spots with benches, picnic tables, and gazebos along the route. Donations to the pathways are essential to maintain the tranquil setting we have created. They help increase accessibility for our residents, repair uneven pavement for safety when walking and comfort in wheelchairs, repair or replace benches and gazebos, and provide shelters for our residents. Click here for more information on Roger Candy Memorial Park.

Equipment Purchases:  Each year items such as garden furniture and adaptive and rehabilitation equipment are identified which would benefit our residents. A donation of $500 - $5,000 would meet many of these needs.

Sponsor A Workshop:  For a minimum donation of $2,000 an education session can be held on a specific topic to benefit staff and/or volunteers.

Resident and SantaAuxiliary Donations Our Auxiliary gratefully accepts donations which they use to purchase Christmas gifts for residents, sponsor events and outings, purchase large items like the garden awnings, and more. Click here for more information on the Auxiliary.

If you would like to discuss another idea for your donation, please speak with Lisa Hirvi, Interm Administrator of Fairmount Home at 613-546-4264, ext 500.
