Hazelnut growing information session in Frontenac County

Information session about emerging opportunity to grow hazelnuts in Frontenac County and Greater Kingston Region

Session at Kingston Frontenac Rotary Auditorium at 2069 Battersea Road in Glenburnie November 1 at 6:30 p.m.

Glenburnie, ON – Did you know that Ferrero Canada is looking to locally source hazelnuts from the province of Ontario in the next five years? This opportunity represents more than 20,000 acres of hazelnut production.

To inform the public about the emerging opportunity to grow hazelnuts in Frontenac County and the Greater Kingston Region a hazelnut information session is being organized by Kingston Economic Development, Queen’s Office of Partnerships and Innovation and Frontenac Economic Development.

Hazelnuts can be used for the raw nut in confectionary, as well as nut milk, hazelnut oil and flour. At the information session, opportunities to participate in growers trials will be discussed.

Members from Ontario Hazelnut Association (OHA) and Ferrero Canada will make presentations at the information session. Refreshments will be served between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The session starts at 7 p.m.
