The Frontenac Trail Committee’s focus is on all trails in the County. However, the impetus of this project arose when the Township of South Frontenac initiated the acquisition of a part of the former Kingston and Pembroke Railway line. The County became involved when it received funding from the Province of Ontario and the project was expanded. Discussions commenced around the transformation of the linear space into a recreational trail that extends north from the southern boundary of the Township of South Frontenac with the City of Kingston to the Township of Central Frontenac approaching Sharbot Lake.
