Volunteers

We have volunteers of all ages who provide residents with programs and opportunities that truly enhance their lives.

Volunteers are part of our Programming Department, and help with such programs as Beauty Break, card games, bingo, monthly crafts, Pet Therapy, Music Therapy, monthly birthday celebrations, gardening, and special events. There are also volunteers who visit residents for quiet conversation, and volunteers who accompany residents to medical appointments. Volunteers go through a selection and training process before starting at Fairmount.

Volunteer Opportunities at Fairmount Home include:

  • Physical Activation: Assisting with Fun & Fitness programs, outdoor games, Restorative exercises, and escorting residents on walks down our wheelchair accessible pathways.
  • Social Activities: Encouraging participation in games such as cards and bingo, happy hour, beauty break, dining, dancing, BBQ’s, and various small group and special events.
  • Spiritual Activities: Assisting resident in participating in church services held within the Home.
  • Therapeutic Recreation Programs: Facilitating activities such as painting, crafts, gardening, sing a longs, baking groups, reminiscence, music, and community outings.
  • Administrative Duties
  • Working in our General Store (open 7 days a week)
  • Appointment Accompaniment
  • One on One Visits
  • Pet Therapy

Volunteer opportunities are individualized to suit your interests, skills, and availability.

Students completing their 40 hours of volunteer work, who have a particular interest in working with the elderly, are most welcome.

While a one year time commitment is preferred to allow residents to establish meaningful relationships, we always require extra volunteers for special events.
