Ontario Works

The Ontario Works Social Assistance Program includes:

  • Financial Assistance to eligible residents for basic needs and shelter;
  • Employment Assistance including skills building and financial assistance to assist people in becoming and staying employed;
  • Mandatory Benefits as prescribed and detailed in Provincial Regulations;
  • Discretionary Benefits as authorized by Council including funerals, burials and utility and rent deposits; and
  • Emergency Hostel Services, which provide board, lodging and
    personal needs to homeless persons on a short term and infrequent
    basis.¹

The main office of program delivery and administration is located at
362 Montreal Street in Kingston. In addition, in the County of
Frontenac a dedicated case management office is located at North
Frontenac Community Services in Sharbot Lake and weekly on-site Ontario
Works Case Management Services are also provided in Sydenham.
